Introduction & Background

The 17th Middle East Corrosion Conference and Exhibition (MECC) will be held during 30 September – 3 October 2018, at the Bahrain Exhibition Center, in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The event is organized by NACE Dhahran Saudi Arabia Section, NACE West Asia & Africa Area and the Bahrain Society of Engineers.

The MECC has steadily expanded since its inception to become a globally leading conference in the area of corrosion management. For the last years, the event proved to be an ever evolving platform with opportunities for industry leaders, corrosion engineers, manufacturers, and service providers to exchange best practices, expand working network, and showcase products and services in corrosion prevention. The number of professional and industrial delegates has steadily grown to cover all aspects of corrosion with representatives from the four corners of the globe.

The 17th MECC technical program is designed to cover various topics that address field investigations, case studies and research projects related to corrosion prevention and control. For the first time, a technical track has been dedicated for women under the theme “Women in Industry”. In addition, the technical program will include six (6) preconference workshops.

Furthermore, the exhibition, concurrently running with the conference, will set the stage to showcase the latest developments in products, technologies, solutions and methodologies striking the corrosion industry.

Nonmetallic - Towards Proactive Corrosion Management

In our ever growing economic and technical advancement, nonmetallic material has become the material of choice when it comes to corrosion control and it gained significant attention in the past few years. The conference committee foresees tremendous opportunities for nonmetallic material applications in industrial applications, therefore dedicated significant part of the technical program including two technical tracks, two workshops and one NACE Technical Exchange Group Meeting focused on nonmetallic.

Actually, the exhibition will have a dedicated pavilion for nonmetallic which will be a platform for international suppliers and services’ providers to share recent advancement in nonmetallic applications, implementation opportunities, and showcase new nonmetallic technologies.

We are looking forward to welcoming you during this conference to celebrate the 40 year’s anniversary of this mega event.
